For FHC Members: The revenue that is generated at FHC to run our organization, is raised not only by dues but also by a very successful BINGO program. To put this in perspective, our annual dues account for approximately 40% of the income required to run FHC. Our BINGO program accounts for approximately 25% of our required income. Another way of looking at this is to recognize that without the BINGO revenue, we would be facing a shortfall of approximately $1300 per member unit.
As you know, we rely on “required membership volunteerism” to run the BINGO program and we “require” that each Single Member work at least one Wednesday BINGO session per fiscal year and that a Family Membership commit to working at least two Wednesday BINGO sessions per fiscal year. To incentivize participation, we surcharge our members additional dues obligations that are then satisfied by Members honoring this work requirement which triggers a dollar-for-dollar credit against this surcharge.
Frankly, we are struggling with the honoring by our Members of their BINGO work requirement; to emphasize the need for this commitment to be met, the Annual BINGO Surcharge for a single member has been increased this fiscal year from $200 to $300, while the Annual BINGO Surcharge for a Family Member has been increased this fiscal year from $400 to $600. It is important to note that the participation of volunteers (that meets the required staffing levels) not only ensures that the game can even be run, but there is a direct correlation: if fully staffed, a weekly game can make up to an additional 50% more than an under-staffed game. So, each member’s participation really matters!
Indeed, we offer another BINGO alternative: join the permanent weekly BINGO Regular Team. Under this alternative, you would not only receive a credit to offset the annual BINGO surcharge, but in addition you would receive a $600 BINGO discount credit against your annual dues per adult member (i.e. $600 per individual member and if both spouses join, a $1,200 discount). There is real camaraderie amongst the members of the BINGO Regular Team. Building bench strength in our BINGO Regular Team is the most secure route for ensuring that we can continue to offer a viable and profitable BINGO game each and every Wednesday.
