Learn

Education is a passion here at First Hebrew. Whether it is intensive study of Talmud, Folk Dance, Krav Maga, knitting, or a book club, we pride ourselves on the breadth of our offerings which appeal to all ages. Our Hebrew School is known as The Jewish Learning Experience. This hands-on project-based learning approach has exposed our young children to different opportunities in the local community. We collaborate with other local synagogues so that our teens can meet other Jewish teenagers while they learn about the art of krav maga, discuss sexuality, bullying, disabilities and more. Our adult education opportunities are also varied. Discussions range from Jewish death customs, Jewish Dietary Law (“Kashrut”) to the exploration of the rich history of our “Holocaust Torah” from Kolin, Czechoslovakia. Our congregants openly share topics that they find of particular interest and about which they’d like to learn more. Our Sisterhood holds monthly meetings. With book club and meetings that focus on heart health, breast cancer findings, domestic violence and the fine art of “celebrations” … there is something for everyone!
